The World Cup

Finally! It's over! Now, I must admit, I did follow some of the matches and I like the sense of comraderie you get from it, but that's pretty much where it stops.

Bloody horns…
I know I'm not the only one saying this and everyone is sick of complaining about them, but culture or not, those vuvuzela's... as useful as toilet paper made out of barbwire - and even more unpleasant. I'd rather hear some chants during a game. Actually I don't even care about what happens during a game. The fact that drunken people discovered this device in no-time worries me even more. (btw: production cost of a Vuvuzela is about 1 Euro. They sell it for 6 - 10. People making it get about 10 cent per Vuvuzela - Blow on that)

The Dutch…

They did well this year. To be fair, they did play some nice football and I'm Belgian, so I won't say a thing about the sport itself. But I've come to this point where the color orange wants to make me vomit. Hét Oranje gevaar (The orange 'danger' - actually meaning orange crazies) was everywhere. The Dutch team even got guided to the airport with an Orange F-16. Them willingly supporting this idea says something and lets not talk about taxpayers money. During the final match in Antwerp (Belgium, being the capital of Brussels) I saw adult men cry… over a game… Surprised they weren't orange tears. But that is a bit overboard don't you think?

"Preut" means vagina. Not my words but funny never the less.

Anyhow, well done towards the Dutch and Spain. (btw; the goal was a proper one, so stop bitching about it.) And the entire World Cup did give me some nice moments. America vs Ghana I really enjoyed. Sorry America, but I was going for the underdog on that one. Never the less, I'm glad it's all over. See you in four years!

You've been Bert!
